Kris Schneider

Kris Schneider is the Director of Federal Programs at the Grand Island Public Schools in Grand Island, Nebraska and is in the third year of her doctoral program (Ed.D.) in the Department of Educational Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  Her servant leadership experience is comprised of twenty-four years in public school education as a middle school teacher, elementary principal, middle school principal, and senior administrator in Nebraska Class A school districts.  The majority of her professional practice includes organizational leadership, federal grant management, and strong collaboration with the Nebraska Department of Education.  As a novice researcher, Kris continues to search for opportunities in interpretive and inductive research with a focus on social construction and human sensemaking in a variety of emerging conditions in public school settings.  Her specific interests include; limited English proficient students, recently arrived newcomer students, educationally disadvantaged youth, and students considered at-risk in the PK-12 environment. Kris is particularly drawn to discovering and interpreting social patterns of students, staff, families, and larger communities and giving meaning to those experiences.
